At LJ Hooker our offices work closely with their local community lending support and sponsorship in a variety of ways.
L.J.Hooker Hibiscus Coast & The Meningitis Trust held a Charity Auction in the Town Square at Pacific Plaza, Whangaparaoa. The Charity Auction was aimed at helping raise funds for the Meningitis Trust and more importantly, raise awareness of Meningitis and Meningococcal disease - a devastating disease which affects the lives of up to 700 New Zealanders every year.
Over 17 “lots” of goodies were auctioned off ranging from a ½ day on a yacht for 6 people valued at $ 500 right down to a $35 free manicure, style cut and blow wave plus hair packs. Local Businesses got in behind this fabulous charity and the event was a resounding success.
LJ Hooker Te Awamutu held their Fifth Garage Sale, raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis Research. This Garage Sale asks for donations of good from local residents and businesses that can be sold at the garage sale and all proceeds raised from the day are donated to Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand. They raised in excess of $10,000 for the cause and over time, have built relationships with a group of people whose lives have been affected by this debilitating illness. The public of Te Awamutu now eagerly await their Annual Garage Sale.
The “Great Teddy’s Bear’s Hospice Christmas Picnic” The event took place at Dawn and Michael O’Connor’s private Brooksby Rd property where members of the public were privy to viewing the owner’s very own private teddy bear collection, sheep stock, tame and wild emus, and a horse and coach. The entry fee was $ 10 and this included a free cup of tea, plus a selection of cakes, sandwiches, sausage sizzle and the freedom to relax on the O’Connor’s expansive property.
Guest attendees included Father Christmas and lots of helpers, the Friends of the Hospice Group, and our very own Mr Hooker Bear.
This successful event and LJ Hooker’s support for such a worthwhile charity was certainly appreciated by all concerned and the end result was $4,000 was raised for the Hospice.
Offices throughout New Zealand have been working with the Salvation Army to collect much needed clothing donations from the community. LJ Hooker staff approach the local community to arrange a collection of pre-loved clothing items, leaving them a collection bag and arranging to pick up their items donating them to the Salvation Army.
