Advertising my property

Why do agents want me to pay advertising money as well as commission?

When you pay commission to an agent to sell your property, you are buying their expertise, activities and availability, and skills in negotiation, marketing and selling. Their advice and hard work contributes significantly to the selling price. Whether it's advice on how to present the property, the advertising they recommend and create, the introduction of a buyer they have been working with for some time, or representing your interests during negotiations - all require expertise and a lot of time and effort.

Advertising is the cost associated with promoting the availability of your property to the world. Increasing the exposure can increase buyer numbers and demand for your home as a result. The internet, signboards, newspapers, etc., all have their role in increasing the exposure and competition for your property and all have correlating costs. LJ Hooker agents also have a database of buyers in your area looking to purchase, and marketing your property and its benefits to this group goes hand in hand with selecting them to sell your property.

Agents are required by legislation to provide you with a summary of any expenditure relating to advertising paid.
