Tauranga Locality Guide
Tauranga city is located on the coast in the Bay of Plenty. It is built around a harbour, at whose entrance is the 232-metre Mt Maunganui. Along its northern edge is a 35-kilometre beach. Tauranga is one of the sunniest places in New Zealand. Its rainfall is limited to a few days per year, but is usually very heavy. Tauranga is experiencing considerable population growth, its rate being 3.3 percent, the fourth highest in New Zealand. The Port of Tauranga is a major exporting facility.
