WAIHI BEACH It really is closer than you think...
Rush hour is an unknown concept in Waihi Beach. Nobody rushes because nobody needs to! Its a laid-back, friendly, warm and inviting community. Shopping in Tauranga is less than 45 minutes easy drive away. What's more, Auckland is less than two hours away.
Fishing and boating and seaside picnics are part of everyday life. Golf courses and bowling greens at neighbouring Waihi and Katikati are handy as they are within a 15 minute drive. With one of New Zealand’s most beautiful and popular beaches rolling on past, people who live here are convinced it’s as good as it gets.
Waihi Beach is in the Bay of Plenty. The Waihi Beach area stretches for about 8 kilometres along the beach and penetrates about 3 kilometres inland. At one end is Athenree, which is close to the tip of the entrance to Tauranga's harbour. At the other end is the small Waihi Beach shopping centre, which has a supermarket, chemist, bookshop, butchery, cafe and takeaways shop and several real estate offices. The area is excellent for swimming and fishing, its population swelling during the summer months.
