Location Description

Kaitaia and the Far North offers something for everyone - it's a little piece of paradise. The East and West coasts lie within 40 minutes of each other flanking Kaitaia and are home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The famous Ninety-Mile Beach reaches up to the most northern part of New Zealand Cape Reinga. With so much coastline, it is not surprising that the area boast some of the best game fishing in the country.

The temperate climate creates a recreational dream with golf courses a plenty, 4-wheel drive motor bikes & horses for hire and trips up Ninety Mile beach. Museums and natural reserves provide a quieter entertainment. The area has something for everyone!

Attractions

The magnificent 90 Mile Beach lies to the north of Kaitaia and is the major landmark of the area. To the east of it are three large harbours, Parengarenga, Houhora and Rangaunu. The landscape is dramatic and the area sparsely populated.

The Far North boasts one of the best left hand surf breaks in the world, the world's biggest snapper surf-fishing contest and the best tours to Cape Reinga.
